Game Modes

For competitive matches, Project Kneon uses a Elo based ladder system where players are placed in leagues based on Elo ranges. Once a player makes it into legend they are placed onto a direct competitive leader board where they can track their ratting vs others that are 2500+. At the end of each competitive season players are rewarded with that seasons themed cosmetics based on the Elo range they ended the season in. Packs are also rewarded in addition. Seasons will likely be 4 months with a 2 week in-between each month, Ranked ladders will exist for 1v1, 2v2s, FFA and Party mode. The following are the Elo ranges for each league:

  • Legend: 2500+
  • Hero: 2200-2499
  • Champion: 1900-2199
  • Warlord 1500-1899
  • Knight 1000-1499
  • Squire 700-999
  • Soldier 400-699
  • Warrior 100-399

Note: Match maker will be for anyone in the same league

Casual play is divided into several “quickplay” style matchmaking pools. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, FFA, and Party Mode. In addition to this, players may host sessions and select their own rules and restrictions for a custom game. These games are findable in the sessions listing.

Multiplayer Rules are implemented whenever the session has more players than a 1v1. For all multiplayer formats when each player starts their turn they “target” another player. This puts the players boards across from each other and allows them and their party to be interacted with. Team mates cannot damage each other or each others legends but they can invoke boons and preform other non attack actions targeting them. For enemy players the standard rules apply as if it were a 1v1. You may only interact with one player at a time when you are the active player, however some Event Cards may allow other players to participate. For 2v2s and 3v3s and Party mode the game is not over until all players from a team are eliminated.

In Party mode, rather than each player having their own board and party for the team; each player has a full size deck but a single legend. Initiative is rolled for each player and each player takes their turn individually.

A staple game-mode in many card games is the draft format. A variation of gameplay where players must randomly select cards and construct a deck on the fly from the selected cards. In MTG Arena this is the Draft events and for Hearthstone this is the Arena Game mode. Kneon Knights’ Adventure Mode has the Players make a party of reduced level and start with only a few cards in their deck. They then continue down a linear game board where they do encounters, have the occasional mini game or decision based encounter that can either boost or hinder their deck. The goal is to go as long as possible without losing. You may gain party members but losing one is permanent. The longer you go the better rewards you get. Some of the encounters are random battles against someone else at a similar stage and party power level. If no one is available it will be a bot.
