The gameplay starts in the deck building where the players must determine their party members, and their starting equipment; which affects the game as early as determining turn order. Legends contribute to an initiative roll which determines who will go first. From there players take turns trying to use cards and actions to wipe out the opposition’s entire party. Players select a party of legends and pair it with a deck of 40 cards of their choice. Victory is obtained through building up small successes that build up to an overwhelming push against your enemies.
Players will have access to Legend Cards, which are the members of their party and determine the style and pace of the rest of their deck; as well as items, Events, and Actions. Actions are the primary card type in the game and they come in a variety of forms
- Major Actions: The primary action of a legend’s turn
- Minor Actions: Smaller actions a legend may also complete.
- Free Actions: Unique minor actions that fall under their type. usable once per turn
- Move Actions: Actions focused on either removing banes or moving the legend
- Focus Actions: A type of action that takes all of a legend’s focus for an entire turn leaving them unable to perform other actions.
Each Turn each legend may choose to perform either a single Focus action; or one Major action, one Move action, and one of each unique Minor Action type. Each of these action types also have tags that could apply synergies allowing for deeper strategizing. Combat is entirely performed through actions, where utilizing other card types such as Items and Events will lead to various advantages to overwhelm your opponents.
The primary goal of the game is to eliminate your opponent’s party; however, to prevent stalemates and to balance the difference in power level between opposing legends a 2ndary goal is in place. Players themselves may be attacked to add weights to their scales of battle. If a player’s scale reaches twice their starting weight, they are eliminated from the game.
